All of us sometimes want to be somewhere else and take pics in fantastic places. Far sides of the world or even space or fantastic locations. We can do it on screen by using few simple photoshop tricks. No need to take long travels šŸ™‚ In this tutorial we will cut our picture and place it on a different one.

Tutorial Details

  • Program: Photoshop
  • Version (if applicable): 7.0 and above
  • Difficulty: intermediate
  • Estimated Completion Time: 30 mins

Alright now we need is pen tool of photoshop. Its on toolbar shown at picture below. Shortcut is “P”. And make sure its assigned to “paths” instead “shape layers”. See picture below

Click Pen tool and after make sure of “Paths” assigned to it, we will start to cut out picture. Zoom in by Clicking zoom tool on toolbar or Ctrl + Space. I zoom to the ear of Obama and start cutting by there šŸ™‚

We will turn around Obama until we reach back to ear again. When u need to slide screen, use “Space” for pan the screen. and hold down “Alt” key while u are turning path on hard curves. When you turned back to first point we started, click it and close the path. For zoom all, click Ctrl + 0 See picture below

Alright now we will turn “Path” into a “Selection”. For do this, Simply hold CTRL on your keyboard and click our path in “Paths” tab. If its not visible, you can show/hide it by Window menu. See picture below

After clicked our Workpath while holding down CTRL, result must be same as below.

Rest is easy. Make sure mply click Ctrl + C and copy it. And open another picture on photoshop and simply hit Ctrl + V for paste it on new picture. Below is my example
